bhi Ltd design and manufacture a range of DSP noise cancellation products that remove unwanted background noise and interference from noisy voice and radio communication channels to leave clear speech. Aimed at a number of different radio related and voice communication markets, the products all incorporate unique Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology to enable clear communications in noisy environments.
Founded in 2002, bhi quickly came to market with their first noise cancellation product, the NES10-2 DSP noise-eliminating speaker. Other products soon followed as bhi rapidly established a worldwide distribution network for their products in over 17 countries. They now have a comprehensive range of DSP noise elimination products and accessories for a wide range of applications and markets. A design service is also available to help customers integrate bhi’s DSP noise cancellation technology into their own products.Products are manufactured in the UK and overseas under the IS09001 quality standard.
It can be very difficult to understand what is being said when calling or communicating from a noisy environment. bhi’s noise cancellation products will integrate into most voice communication systems to greatly reduce this inherent problem. The products will remove the unwanted background noise and interference, whether it originates from the transmission process, or is picked up from the environment by a microphone. There is a solution to suit most types of radio and voice communications equipment: There are noise elimination speakers that fit into the base station or mobile environment, in-line noise cancelling modules that can be integrated into the communication system, or noise eliminating pcb modules that can be retrofitted internally into existing equipment or designed into new products. The products work just as well in the microphone path, on the transmit side, or in the receive path, and can be used to clean up noisy voice recordings.
So give us a call today if you would like to discuss your noise problems, and we can help you to select the best product to improve the speech quality in your comms system.

Remembering passwords can be tricky, but setting effective and secure passwords on all the websites you use is vital in combating possible fraudulent activity using your personal details. It’s best to avoid using the same password for each of your online accounts, because if a criminal gains access to it, all your accounts could be at risk. Multiple passwords keep you safer. When you set a password, it’s a good idea to use a mix of numbers and characters, and something that’s very personal to you. Most sites these days will set a minimum number of characters to use, but do avoid using obvious phrases like “password”, or your name, or phone number. It’s a good idea to change your passwords on a regular basis, especially for sites you use frequently and which involve financial transactions. If you ever get a request to reveal your password for an online site, don’t respond as legitimate sites and services won’t ask you to send them passwords via email. You may be tempted to share passwords with close family, but do keep in mind there’s always a risk they could pass information on inadvertently or share it with someone else. You can re-set your password on at any time by signing into your account and choosing the Edit your password option. If you've forgotten your password, just enter your email address on the 'Forgotten your password' page, and we'll email you your password information. Then simply follow the instructions in the email to change your password. It’s a good idea at this point to change your password to something that’s as secure as possible. If you decide to change your johnlewis.com account password, or if we prompt you to do so, we'll ask you to set one with no fewer than 8 characters, to include a minimum of one upper and one lower case letter, and at least one number. For more information on online safety and passwords, there are a number of useful websites such as Get Safe Online, Microsoft Safety & Security, Google good to know.

Have a Question or need technical support?
If you have any questions about our noise cancelling products or require some support please don’t hesitate to contact us. Also, have a look at bhi's most commonly asked questions as they may help you...
Q. What does the fourth DIP switch on the NES10-2MKII do on the back of the speaker?
A. Nothing, it is not used.
Q. Do bhi DSP noise cancelling products work with SSB transmissions?
A. Yes they work with SSB transmissions and on all other radio bands as the DSP noise cancelling works with any signal that contains speech and is able to differentiate the speech from the noise.
Q. What adjustments do I need to make during use on the NES10-2MK3?.
A. The Volume/sensitivity control on the top of the speaker should be set at a qtr turn up from minimum. You can make fine adjustments to this depending on the volume of the normal listening level from your radio in bypass mode. Once the NES10-2 is configured to your own personal settings the only adjustments needed are to select the suitable filter level for the current operating conditions (see user guide for details).
Q. I can sometimes hear a beating sound when listening to the unit?
A. If you listen to bhi DSP noise cancelling products with no audio signal present, you may hear some DSP processing noise. This is normal and part of the DSP doing its work. Once a noisy signal is present you should not be able to hear this noise when listening.
Q. Can I use a switch mode power supply with the speakers and in-line units?.
A. Yes you can use a switched mode power supply, but just be aware that the cheaper lower cost switched mode power supplies have been known to generate noise and cause interference.
Q. When transmitting, the signal can be heard through the speaker on the radio or in my headphones.
Explanation: bhi DSP noise cancelling products have plenty of RF protection inside. The reason for the issue is that you have some stray RF in your shack. Firstly check that all your coax connections are secure, and that your antenna system is matched up as best it can be at the antenna feed point. Also make sure that all your cables are routed as far away from the RF as possible. Having an Elevated SWR on the coax leading to your transceiver can cause transmit audio to be present. Try to match your antenna system up at the antenna feed point, and you shouldn’t hear any audio on transmit. If this is not possible due to your setup and location then the following should help in eliminating this issue.
A1. Try using on a separate DC power supply to power your bhi unit. We sell a number of different power supplies to suit our various DSP noise cancelling products: bhi power supplies
A2. Look at both help sheets below for a solution.

How does it work?
Using unique Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, the bhi range of DSP noise elimination products remove unwanted background noise and interference from noisy speech signals to leave the processed signal much clearer and intelligible, reducing stress and enabling the user to concentrate more on what is actually being said.
The DSP processes the signal and differentiates the noise from the speech. This unwanted noise and interference is then attenuated to leave only the speech. The DSP technology is fully adaptive and no adjustments are necessary.
The signal is constantly monitored, and the DSP automatically adapts to any changes in the signal conditions.
What can it remove?
Noise can come from two areas
- Transmitting end (picked up by a microphone from within a noisy environment)
- Transmission process (interference) and Transmitting noise source.
This type of noise is picked up by the transmitting microphone and passed along with the speech signal to the destination, for example:
- Road noise
- Engine noise
- Wind noise
- Crowded environments
- Machinery and equipment
- Transmission noise (Interference)
- This type of noise is added to the transmitted signal on route to the destination, for example:
- Poor reception conditions
- Other transmitted signals
The bhi range of noise elimination products can remove both of these types of noise without significantly altering the speech signal.
